IELTS Tests on Curfew Days

Our priority is the health and safety of our candidates

For this purpose, we continue our IELTS tests by taking all necessary precautions for the coronavirus.

When questions like “how can I take the test on weekends, can someone accompany me to the test, how can I come to the test from another city?” confuse us these days, check out the answers to all the frequently asked questions:

 
Can I take IELTS on weekends?

Yes, you can take both paper based and computer delivered IELTS on weekends.

How can I take the test on curfew days? Do you send any permission?

According to the circular letter of the Ministry of interior of the Republic of Turkey, candidates who will participate in test such as KPSS, IELTS, TOEFL and a companian are exempt from the curfew. IDP send an exemption letter to your email address which you have registered for the test. You can come to the test with this document.*

* The exemption letter sent by IDP covers only the candidate. No separate permission is sent for your companion.

Can someone come with me as a companion? Should we also get permission for him/her?

According to the circular, only 1 person can be with you as a companion. You don’t need another permit.

I'm under 20. How can I come to the test?

According to the circular, candidates under the age of 20 can travel in and out of the city if they have a parent/guardian with them. You can come to the test with your guardian and  the exemption letter that will be send to your email.

I will come for the test from another city. What should I do?

If you will come by public transport: Persons who have travel ticket, booking code, etc. will be exempt from the curfew.

If you will come by private vehicle: You must obtain permission from the Travel Permission Boards through the Ministry of Interior’s EBAŞVURU and ALO 199 systems or through direct application to the governorship/prefectures.

What do I need to bring on IELTS test day?

On the day of the test, you must bring the passport/Turkish ID card you used for your IELTS online application. (only original and valid passports/IDs are accepted). Your passport must have an expiry date of at least 7 days after the test date to be considered valid. Photocopies or certified copies will not be accepted. Also, you must have your HES code ready.

You can bring an HB pencil or HB mechanical pencil, eraser,  sharpener. You can also bring water and disinfectant – all labels must be removed and bottles must be see-through. If you wish, the test centers will also provide water, wipes, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, disinfectants and cologne.

You must leave everything else outside the examination room except the things mentioned above. Mobile phones, smartwatches and pagers must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor.

What are the precautions against coronavirus in Paper Based IELTS?
In paper based IELTS tests;
  • HES codes will be checked at the entrance.
  • All candidates’ body temperature is measured at test location.
  • In order to maintain social distance, the candidates are taken in groups.
  • A new mask is given to candidates before entering the test area.
  • For all our candidates, disinfectant, cologne, masks and gloves are available in location.
  • You can bring your own pen, if you wish, the test center can provide you a disposable one.
  • All candidates must declare their health status by filling out the Health Consent Form.
  • Instead of fingerprint scanning, only a signature is taken and the used pen is disinfected after each candidate.
  • Test materials are disinfected before and after each use.
  • The headphones provided in the Listening section are given in special packages after disinfection and must used with disposable pads.
  • Invigilator takes your belongings in disposable bags in the safe area.
  • If you wish, you can perform your Speaking test via video call.
What are the precautions against coronavirus in Computer Delivered IELTS?

In Computer Delivered IELTS tests;

Since Computer-delivered IELTS tests are held in our own centers, sterilization procedures are performed daily and all equipment used is disinfected after each candidate. In addition;

  • HES codes will be checked at the entrance.
  • All candidates’ body temperature is measured at the test location.
  • In order to maintain social distance, there is a distance left between the candidates.
  • The total number of persons and staff who will take the test in one session does not exceed 10.
  • If you wish, you can perform your Speaking test via video call
  • For all our candidates, disinfectant, cologne, masks and gloves are available in location.
  • A disposable ear pad is provided for the headphones used in the Listening section and headphones are disinfected after each use.
  • All candidates must declare their health status by filling out the Health Consent Form.
  • Instead of fingerprint scanning, only a signature is taken and the used pen is disinfected after each candidate.
