IELTS Test Date Transfer and Refund Request

Postponement and cancellation processes are different for IELTS and IELTS UKVI tests.

Request for cancellation or postponement must be made strictly 5 weeks before the test date by email or in person only. Cancellation or postponement requests over the phone are not accepted. Postponement request is limited to one time only and you can postpone your test for no more than 3 months.

Not attending the test without any excuses is considered as a cancellation, no refund and no postponement will be issued. You have to register and pay again if you wish to take the test on another date.

* The five-week rule is calculated based on the day between you made your cancellation or postponement  and your test date, regardless of when you register.

My test is less than five weeks away, how can I postpone / cancel it?

Candidates who request cancellation or postponement less than five weeks before the test, or who do not participate in the test they have registered, can receive an intermittent refund or postpone the test if they submit evidence of the reasons listed below.

  • Serious Illness – hospital admission or serious injury
  • Loss or Bereavement – death of a close family member
  • Hardship/Trauma – victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military Service

To change your test date or cancel your test, you must complete the Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form and attach the appropriate document and/or proof, such as a medical report, death notice or police report received from a qualified hospital, to your [email protected] or [email protected] within 5 days of your test date.

Due to registration process, you can receive your test fee with a 25% deduction or postpone your test to another date without any additional fees. Postponement request is limited with one time only. You can postpone your test for a maximum of 3 months.

Refunds are made via bank transfer and usually take three to four weeks after the request is processed and emailed. If your refund is not made within the specified time period, please contact your test center.
