It is important to know your strengths and weaknesses during the IELTS preparation process.
IELTS measures four basic English skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. IELTS Listening and Speaking skills are interrelated and supportive, such as IELTS Reading and Writing. Before you start preparing for IELTS, discover your own personal strengths and weaknesses, and devise a study plan to develop weaknesses. At the same time, keep improving your strongest skills regularly. For example, if you are weak in reading and writing sections, think about what you can do to develop these two skills together. As a simple exercise, you can read an article every day and write its summary.
Still, do not neglect your strengths! Here are some exercises:
- Listen to English news and try to take notes while listening.
- Read newspapers in English, then tell a friend or yourself the highlights of the story.
- Find a topic that interests you in the newspaper and try to write an article about it.
